Dutch

The official languages of Surinam is Dutch almost every one speaks it. In 2005 Surinam became a member of the Dutch languages union and more than 500 words out of the Surinamese Dutch languages where included in the latest version of the official Dutch green book for Dutch languages, Dutch is also the official writing languages.
In Surinam there are more than twenty different languages, besides Dutch the main languages there is:

  • Sranan Tongo a mix of Spanish, English, Dutch en several other languages.
  • Sarnami Hindoestani(Suriname Hindi)
  • Several Maron languages like Samaracaan and Aukaans
  • Chines (Hakka, Mandarijn and Kantonees)

Most of the Surinamese people are Multi languages next to Dutch they also speak Sranan Tongo.
