Of course when work is done there is time for you to spend in a swimming pool or other recreation facility. You can go to the Torarica hotel, Krasnapolsky hotel, Porto Alegro, Swimming club Dolphin, Oase, Zin and many more. For some swimming pools you need a membership which can be expensive.
White Beach
Among the banks of the Surinam river 45 minutes drive from Paramaribo you can find White Beach a artificial beach at the banks of the Surinam river. At White Beach there is te possibility to rent a Pina cabin it is also allowed to take food and drinks with you. This is not really necessary there is a restaurant at White Beach. you will find more information about White Beach in the menu Emigration / Recreation.
Cola Creek
Next to the national airport Joseph Adolf Pengel(Zanderij) you will find Cola Creek. In the weekends a lot of people goes to this creek with blaka watra(black water) so you have to get up early to get a decent place. The water in the creek that has the color of Cola is cool and clean.
Dancing
Salsa, Bachata, Souk and Meringue
During your internship you can learn these dances we can recommend you dancing school Lindeboom located at the Wilhelminastreet 8 in Paramaribo. Every first Tuesday of the month they start a new course Salsa, Bachata and Merinque, on Wednesday evening you can learn the Souk .
How does it work
Lessons for group one are given on Tuesday and Friday evening from 18.30 till 19.30 pm.
After a month you will go to the second group and the lessons will be on the same evenings only from 19.30 till 20.30 pm.
The third month you are ready for group three and the lessons will start at 20.30 till 21.30 pm. So in three months time you can learn this dances and show them when you go in to town and off course when you're back home.
The prices for the lessons if you compare them with the prices of a dancing school in your own country are low, fore Salsa, Bachata and Meringue you will pay SRD 45(10 Euro) per month.
After group three you are ready for the intermediate class followed by the course for advanced. After four months you’re finished bud you welcome to stay as long as you want to learn more of the dances.
You can learn a lot from the other dancers some of them are very good and they will show you how to do the freestyle of the Salsa.
On the Monday and Thursday evening you can learn the Souk a popular South American dance, lessons at Monday start at 20.00 hour price per month SRD 40*(10 euro).
