with a special thanks to the trainees who provided us with the information regarding this subject.
Before you come to Surinam there a lot of things you have to look after.
We don’t offer work places or housing for internships for this you can contact the Surinam embassy, consulate or internships desk at your school. If you want to rent a house or a room in Surinam we advise you to take a look at the home page of CasaCama one of our sponsors.
For the parents we can ensure you that as long as your child obeys the rules in Surinam there will be no problems, safety rules are almost the same as the ones you have at home so don’t worry.
One advise for the internships don’t go telling everybody in Surinam that thing at home are better, soon the Surinamese people will find you annoying and wish you never came to Surinam. We are sure that you will experience things you have never seen before and you will ask yourself how is it possible that they are still in business.
Don’t forget you are in Surinam a South America country with a totally different way of living and doing things. In Surinam they say No Spang in other words relax tomorrow there is a new day.
These are things you’re not used to bud go with the flow and you will see that you will have a nice time in Surinam.
Politeness and manners are still very important in Suriname, for example, if one runs in to you on a terrace or in a discotheque they will apologize the same is expected from you.
Also against the elderly there is respect and courtesy. In traffic Surinamese are not relax once they get in to their car they will find there horn quickly speeding and drunken driving is also common.
For those of you who will use a bike be careful even when you are on a major road and they want to pass let them.
Your internship in Surinam can be a nice and pleasant experience, so enjoy your time in Surinam.
