At your local bank you can ask if they are able to transfer your money to Surinam. Don’t forget to ask what fee they will charge you fore there services.

To avoid all risk we advise you, if you don’t have one already, to open an extra banking account you might need it. For instant if your main account is blocked you are still able to transfer money to your second account this way  you can always redraw your money.

There are enough ATMs, you will not get euro or US dollar but Surinamese dollars. When you redraw money from a ATMs Exchange rate are lower than the ones at a money exchange office(Cambio).

Banks in Surinam

There are several non European / western banks, it is up to you witch bank you choose. De biggest banks in Surinam are the DSB, Hakrin and RBTT bank they have offices in Paramaribo and the districts in Surinam. If you are opening a account in Surinam we advise you to open a international and a local account so you can transfer your money from a brought to your international account and local payments can be done from your local account.
